Another thing I cannot understand is the reason behind all this...if there even exists something like that.

What personally intrigues me is how the time doesn't appear to work normally. I have met up with quite a few acquaintances who from my point of view clearly come from the past, but I've never heard of any of them, or anyone else for that matter, disappearing into another world like this.
