[This feed opens with ... trees. And lots of them. You get a nice view of the tree trunks and the snow covered ground, before the video tilts upwards, giving you a mostly clear sky and a cold-shining sun, the tree tops (the firs, the spruces, and all the barren ones) framing the moment nicely as a few bird pokémon fly across the sky.]

[Honestly? It does look beautiful, which Cooper brings to attention a few moments later, his voice all wistful behind the gear:]

Man ... look at those trees.

[Enjoy the trees and the snow and the sun for another few moments, network, before the feed is cut. Cooper is just giving you guys a view of little-things-to-be-happy-about.]

[Well, look who's looking better after a week! His entire right arm is wrapped in bandages, as is his left palm, but he looks much less pale now. He has a gentle smile on his lips.]

It is a beautiful sight, aru. It's nice to see a scene like this, especially since I was taken from China before the snow could fall.

((ooc: I'm so sorry about the thread Cooper and China had going! School has been giving me so much work plus the Saturday classes I've decided to take these next couple of weeks ;A; I just forget about some threads because of all the stuff I have to do, but I'm up for backtagging if you are!))

_{[China! Coop's definitely been worried, so he smiles brightly at seeing his face. It grows smaller to mirror the gentle smile of the other, but it's very genuine all the time.]}

I don't think I've seen this much snow for years. It's quite wonderful.

[He nods in agreement.]

It snows heavily at the Chinese-Russian border, but I haven't gone that far up north for a whole year now, aru. It's the only place besides Russia and Canada where it snows for most of the year.

[He nods again and smiles. He lifts up his bandaged right arm.]

I've been feeling much better, Cooper. My cuts don't hurt either and I'll be resting at the Center for a couple more days, aru. It's all thanks to you and the others that I was able to fight off that Gengar.

Snow is rare where I live. It's nice to see such amounts of it for a change.

I'm so glad, aru. It makes me feel assured that I'll never be alone in this place. [Not that he was ever alone at home, but his very early childhood days are another story.]

[He holds his right arm.] I'm pretty sure I was the only one being attacked by the Gengar, aru. Still, I'm aware that it escaped at the last minute before Lien-Hua and Li could finish it off, so it could come back at another time, aru. I'll be ready for it if that happens again, though.

California. San Francisco, more precisely, with an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

It's a troubling possibility that it might. If it comes to that, I hope I'll be able to do something other than help from the sidelines.

I wonder if there is any kind of authority in this place that deals with occurances such as these ...

Oh! I've visited to San Francisco before, aru! It's such a lovely city. [He chuckles to himself.] I remember staying there for the first time with the other early Chinese immigrants back when the railroads were still being built, aru.

I believe that you did help, Cooper. I'm pretty sure Lien-Hua and Li could sense your encouragement. Besides, this isn't the first time I've dealt with spirits, aru. I remember that as a child they would often try to wisk me away somewhere until my nursemaid Lien-Hua gave me a charm to fend them off.

[He shrugs.] Who knows? Perhaps there are researchers for this specific area, aru?

That's impressive. _{[Have a grin. There's some clear amazement in his voice, as he never quite manages to wrap his head around how you guys are nations.]}

_{[And he nods, a bit tense around the mouth. At the mention of spirits, though, he takes on a different expression - even if it's essentially the same as before. But this is interesting to him.]}

What did they look like to you? How old were you?

[He sighs, but there's still a smile on his face.] If only Alfred remembered who helped him build his railroads, aru. Honestly, it was that long ago for us Nations. [Don't worry, Cooper, a lot of people who China has talked too find it hard as well.]

[China knitts his eyebrows as he goes back to those times.] Well, they came in all different forms, aru. Some came as black dragons, or fox demons, or even as large trolls wielding wooden clubs.

Fifty years had past since my birth, but because I'm a Nation, I was only eight years old at the time, aru.

You mentioned a charm?

Yep. Alfred F. Jones. England gave him that name after he found him in the wild, aru.

[Yao nods and feels around his pants pocket before holding up the charm. (http://www.martialartsgear.com/dec/images/13900.jpg) There was a little mirror in the very center of it and it looked as though the charm had been very well cared for all these years.]

I've kept it all these years, aru. Plus it was from Lien-Hua, so that makes it even more special. [He smiles at the charm before pulling it close to his heart.]

"The wild"? _{[Just. Wait what.]}

_{[But he looks very interested in the charm, and touches the ring he's wearing on his left hand briefly when regarding it.]}

And it works? ...Are there still spirits around you?

Yes, the American wilderness of course, aru. England found America as a young child in the New World and raised him until the American Revolution.

[He keeps the charm close to his heart.] After she gave this to me, the spirits could no longer come near me, aru. I remember they used to stand outside my door, but that's as close as they could get. If they were to get any closer the charm would repel them, aru.

Still, I guess Johto made this charm lose its special abilities as well, aru. This charm was not made to be a weapon, but I guess that doesn't matter here, aru.

It sounds like such a different perspective for you.

No. I guess it just had to adapt to the laws of this world. Only the pokémon can be magical here, it seems.

_{[But ... yes. All very interesting information, which has his mind working at full speed. He looks away for a second, deep in thought, before focusing again on Yao's face and decides that this isn't the time, really.]}

Considering that charm doesn't work here, I'm thankful your pokémon are as well trained as they are. They put on quite a fight.

Well, I wasn't there with the Europeans to discover America, aru. I had my own country and siblings to take care of, but one thing I can understand is how heartbroken England was after the American Revolution. I felt the same pain when Japan left, aru. [His grip on the charm tightens.]

I guess so. We've all lost our weapons and powers. Although, the ony special abilities I had was my immortality and my healing powers, aru. I still have my martial arts, so I don't feel completely defenseless. [A Nation, defenseless? That's blasphemy!]

[He tilts his head slightly when Cooper studies his face, but he doesn't question it. He smiles when Copper mentions his pokemon.]

Thank you, aru. I put so much effort into raising not just those two, but the others as well. It's almost like I'm raising my siblings again. [He chuckles to himself.]

_{[He knows about people leaving - but he doesn't think it would stand to compare with things like embodied wars.]

[He nods.]_{That is something. I can say that I honestly missed my duty weapon on arriving here, but I'm glad to see that even if I did have it, it would come to little use.

It's not easy when it happens, but we always recover in the end, aru. [There' a gentle, not sad, smile on China's face as he says this.]

Exactly. I grew up with a sword in my hand [Along with many kung fu weapons developed in his country.]. Yet, it's as you said, even if I did have a weapon on me, there would be no need to use it, aru.

[He nods his head, still smiling.] I'm just glad to see that I'm not a bad example after all. I'm also glad to see that my child-caring skills haven't rusted over time, aru. [He chuckles at the bit of humor he attempts to put at the end.]

Oh, really? In that case, we'll definitely meet up somewhere, aru. Goldenrod is a big city, so there's many places to go.

[It would be nice to see Cooper in person again. They hadn't spoken in the flesh since Violet City.]

I expect there to be. It'll be quite a change after all these small towns.

It certainly is, aru. Violet was nice, but I just needed a change of scenery, aru. Although, I've never seen Azalea. Since I had Hong Kong with me at the time, we just took the Sudowoodo crossing, aru.

[But now that China's been here for awhile, he'd be able to take that Sudowoodo crossing himself.]

Azalea is a nice town. It reminded me a lot of where I was before coming here.
