I've been thinking about the significance of our first pokémon. I find it hard to believe the species given to us are random.

[A brief pause. He's been bothered by this ever since his arrival, actually.]

The initial reaction on meeting your first is important, whether it was fear, familiarity, anger, amusement, or the more unlikely indifference. Then there is of course the more pressing question: why were we given these particular ones?

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

[He's investigating again. Action for anyone in Azalea - he'll most likely be hanging around the pokémon center, working there and all.]

No. But several things indicate that the majority of the time, they do.

I think I've heard about that. It's still possible to learn a few things from the outside.

Or to send a Pokémon holding a Pokégear inside, possibly.

I've had to infiltrate buildings before. [His own castle, in fact.] And I spent some time talking about the tower with Kaito. It gave me a few ideas.

So I'm told. Doesn't it seem strange to any of you? I'm a little more used to fighting my own battles.

It does. These pokémon battles would probably be regarded as illegal activites where I'm from.

I don't know. But I would very much like to find out.

I started with a cow. Probably 'cause Friesian cattle originated at my place. That, and Gouda cheese.

That sounds like a plausible link.

... I never did realize that Gouda cheese originates from the Netherlands.

It's from Gouda, South Holland.

[ Though the name isn't copyrighted so it's somewhat of an universal term these days. ]

Well, maybe. I like to think there's a reason for everything.

Almost too well. It definitely raises a few questions.

If I had to guess, maybe we were connected somehow.

I'm pretty sure Vanitas had an Eevee too, the first time he was here, so I figured it was for the same reason.

You don't think it might have to do with the Eevee's ability to evolve into several types?

It could be. I mean, there's a Dark type and all...

But I don't think there's a type that's all that much like me. Back home my strong suits were wind and light spells. Maybe there's something more than that, but I haven't figured it out either.

Such as? Almost everything here raises more questions. Bizarre wildlife, nightmare fog, glitches, that three-day gap...

Perhaps that's what it's about. Finding your type.

Do you think it's something about their natures then? Even if we get the same teammates, their personalities are different too.

My Eevee was really timid, and fights scared her at first. I think I used to be like that.

Such as, was it planned? Are we chosen? How do "they" know what they know?

You're right. These occurences only bring more questions, and no one seems to know where to look for answers.

It could be. If the species of our pokémon are decided for us, why not their personality?
