I've been thinking about the significance of our first pokémon. I find it hard to believe the species given to us are random.

[A brief pause. He's been bothered by this ever since his arrival, actually.]

The initial reaction on meeting your first is important, whether it was fear, familiarity, anger, amusement, or the more unlikely indifference. Then there is of course the more pressing question: why were we given these particular ones?

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

[He's investigating again. Action for anyone in Azalea - he'll most likely be hanging around the pokémon center, working there and all.]

Right. My first pokemon was a magikarp. My thoughts were more along the line of "Why would anyone put a fish in a ball?" Then I thought it was a stupid name because there's nothing magical about it.

Actually there is I guess... but at the time I didn't know it. Maybe I got this one to start with because it involves into a sea monster like what we have in my world? A miniature more docile version of them anyway.

It's certainly possible. Did you have any particular relations with those sea monsters?

If it helps, Monkey D. Luffy got a monkey pokemon, and Kazooie got a bird pokemon -- she used to be a bird in her world.

I'm called the Wild Dog or Loose Hound of the marines back in my world though, and I'm still looking for a growlithe. [Shrugs.] So I don't know if that means anything or not. Just more data for you.

Hn. There are some others from around that time. The Straw-Hat brat and Kaz were here then. Though Kaz left, she came back. This place is just insane like that.

It's definitely something different. Do you know if there's anyone that arrived prior to May?

[Shakes head.] There were a ton of us when we first showed up, the professor guy was just trying to keep order. Before that I don't think this place was having this problem.
