I've been thinking about the significance of our first pokémon. I find it hard to believe the species given to us are random.

[A brief pause. He's been bothered by this ever since his arrival, actually.]

The initial reaction on meeting your first is important, whether it was fear, familiarity, anger, amusement, or the more unlikely indifference. Then there is of course the more pressing question: why were we given these particular ones?

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

That is a good idea. It's unlikely that Johto is all there is to this world.

Exactly. The map's drawn so y'can't tell if Johto's a part of a bigger continent or if it's an island.

Seems like they're trying to keep us within a particular area.

Most people here appear to be from the future, seen from my perspective. I'd ask what it's like, but I think I'd like to see for myself.
