I've been thinking about the significance of our first pokémon. I find it hard to believe the species given to us are random.

[A brief pause. He's been bothered by this ever since his arrival, actually.]

The initial reaction on meeting your first is important, whether it was fear, familiarity, anger, amusement, or the more unlikely indifference. Then there is of course the more pressing question: why were we given these particular ones?

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

[He's investigating again. Action for anyone in Azalea - he'll most likely be hanging around the pokémon center, working there and all.]

[Subaru looks away for a moment, before nodding. The camera angle keeps shifting funny-- it looks like he might be fidgeting with his hands.]

...My family-- the Sumeragi family-- is an old family that has worked as... We work with spirits. We help spirits pass on, ensure no harm comes to the living. I was chosen to be the head of the family, due to my powers.

...there's another family-- the Sakurazuka family. They're a clan of assassins. They use the same magic we do, but they don't do good things with it. We've been enemies for generations.

He was going to kill me, because I was the head. He accepted Hokuto in my stead... But he's killed thousands more since then, and he'll keep doing it if someone doesn't stop him.

[there's a lot more still to the story-- a lot of parts he's left out-- but that's the basic premise.]

_{[He nods again, considering the new information. He looks a bit troubled, but in a somewhat distant way.]}

You're certain murdering him is the only way of stopping it.

Yes. [Subaru looks distinctly uncomfortable for a moment, and then just looks... sad, more than anything. A little bit desperate.] I want it to end.

_{[At that, Cooper looks completely sympathethic, dropping his eyes from the gear for a moment before looking at the other once more.]}

I don't want you to take someone's life.

I don't-- [want to, he almost says, but he can't say that. He can't run the risk of letting Seishirou find out.] I have to try.

There's no way to block his abilities?

_{[He's not sure what to make of this situation. He's strongly averse to any kind of murder, and he still believes Subaru has a choice here ... but he's not sure what would be the right one from the way the information is presented.]}

No. Even I... may not be able to defeat him, and I've been training for this since I was a small child.

[if he told you the whole story, it'd really just make things that much worse. He's been avoiding it for good reasons. Mostly because you're perceptive enough that you might catch on to what he actually intends to do...]

_{[What's worse is that Cooper is perceptive enough to pick up on the fact that there's something significant left unsaid. For the moment, though, he'll just settle with giving Subaru a look that reads like a strange mix of kind and harsh.]}

[Subaru nods, looking distinctly miserable.]

I can't do anything about it here... not without any of my powers. And I-- I couldn't ask my Pokemon to try to... attack someone. Not like that. [yes, he's more worried about his Pokemon than he is about himself. He makes a terrible murderer.]

_{[No kidding. Cooper shakes his head in response.]}

No, you couldn't. _{[Frankly, he doesn't really think Subaru to be capable of murder, either - but he knows better than to judge killers. They can be anyone, anywhere.]} I suppose the good news are that while he's here, he's got no powers either.

...I'm not certain that will stop him, if he's here long enough. [Subaru looks severely disenchanted by this thought. Hngh, what if Seishirou kills someone else he likes here?]

Do-- do you know what happens if someone is killed here?

No. Maybe they're not. Some people were dead before coming here, but are now very much alive.

[Subaru hesitates for a long moment, but finally gives the name.]

Seishirou. Seishirou Sakurazuka.

_{[He repeats it to himself once. He doesn't know a face to go with the name, but he figures in time, he just might. Not that that's a particularly encouraging thought.]}

I'm sorry to have concerned you.

[he hesitates again, then finally--] Please be careful, if you meet him. I don't think he'll hurt anyone without a reason, but his reasons... [Subaru looks upset again, and that familiar look of being hurt and betrayed crosses his face.] He might hurt you. I don't-- I don't think many people should know about him, or more people might get hurt.

[ooc: oocly; Sei-mun would prefer the whole "is an assassin" not get out of the bag, since it hinders most of the fun in playing him, so she asks that Coop not tell anyone/you check with her first. which I should have done before I even named him, but l-lol, my fail. rp, how doz it work]

_{[Cooper nods, simply. And while he speaks in a very business-like manner most of the time, it softens considerably here.]}

I understand - It's a delicate situation. In turn, I ask you not to do anything rash. I firmly believe there must be another solution to all this.
