[Private to France:] How about that coffee? Any time that works for you. (ooc: we could totally skip right to that and tag as if saturday coffee stuff, if you want?)

[And action, after that:] [Basically Cooper is all over the streets of Goldenrod today. He needs a new coat (there’s a nasty-looking tear in the sleeve of the one he’s wearing right now). And a suit (same there). And some strong coffee.]

[If you run into him, you might notice that he looks a bit different – could be the scratches on his face and general messy state. Coop is ... never in a messy state. Feel free to bother him about this and the fact that he seems generally tense.]

It's so much fun to go shopping with a friend rather than just by myself. I had been planning a bit of a shopping spree; I definitely need to pick up some hand cream and lotion for this weather. When would you be free?

I haven't picked up a job yet so anytime will work.

The paperwork the centers have are almost worse than what I had to deal with at the Bureau.

Excellent. I'll give you a call when I have time off and we can make a day of it.

Ugh, paperwork. I've had enough of that to last lifetimes. Have you considered the restaurants or maybe floor work at the Department Store? It's not necessarily glamorous, but the pay is healthy.

_{[He shakes his head, having considered them.]}

I don't think I'm particularly fit for any other line of work. Even if paperwork is spectacularly dull, it's something I know I'm good at.

And it does give many opportunities to meditate.

_{[Which, you know, is always a plus.]}

I have never been good a meditation; I tend to become more nervous. Does it really work for you?

_{[He nods.]} It's refreshing to mind, body and spirit and helps me face the problems that arise with calm. And at times it is a good substitute for sleep, the nights I can't have it.

_{[As is the caffeine and sugar. He works on the kick.]}

Do you usually have trouble sleeping?

You don't have to answer if you don't want to. I personally tend to like staying up late; life is very fun in the nighttime.

_{[That's surprisingly perceptive and Cooper looks at France with the curious look he often seems to use around him.]}

At times, yes, I do have trouble sleeping. Just as often it has to do with necessity or commitment to my work.

_{[He could easily count at least five times the last month at home where he'd gotten roughly four hours worth of sleep, or even less.]}

Night life for for me tends to prove interesting rather than fun.

You strike me as a man whose dedication is second to none. It's a very admirable trait and difficult one to find.

Nightlife is always interesting. I tend to enjoy how people loosen up when they don't think there are so many eyes watching.

It might not always be a good thing to not feel watched. A lot of criminal activities occur at night.

Very true. It's also the best time to launch ambushes and move troops without being seen. Useful, if not very honest.

_{[He nods, looking distant for a second as he drinks some more of his coffee.]}

Like everything else it has to do with how you use it, not what it is.

I don't dislike the night. _{[He adds, rather simply.]}

The night is probably my closest friend.

I was very young when Rome fell. I don't remember him very well, and maybe that's for the better. The time that followed was dark, especially during the day. I learned early on to embrace night because at least it doesn't lie, doesn't offer a mimicry of what I couldn't have.

They call Paris the "City of Lights." Everyone likes to forget it's all electric.

_{[Cooper listens in silence, giving France all his attention, frowning slightly. After a little while, he concludes the best answer is to share something as well.]}

I used to be frightened of the night. I had dreams I did not understand. Now I don't find it very threatening, but I guess it's in us to have a natural inclination for light. We think it's safe.

But like everything it's a matter of experience and personal preference.

_{[The last sentence is spoken more quickly than the previous ones.]}

I like the way that you worded that. Everyone looks for different ways to find light and happiness. Conceptually, light and happiness differs from person to person.

What makes you happy?

The sound of wind in the trees. People who understand each other. Rare moments of peace and a cup of good black coffee.

We didn't have such developed long-distance communication devices in my time. It's extraordinary, but I still prefer talking to people face to face.

We had similar things, but they were quite expensive unless you were on a plan of some sort with a particular company. I personally was rather addicted to my BlackBerry; it was a lot of fun to kill time on the Metro with the games.
