[So, Johto. Haven’t heard things from Coop’s end for a while now, have you? Well, nothing outrageous has happened to him (that he wants to talk about, anyway), and he hasn’t had anything interesting to tell or show you guys (the trees in Goldenrod are clearly inferior to those in Ilex, pfff), but here he is again, with an inquiry which might make you recall the one from two months ago. Brought to you in the business-like voice you all know (and love?).]

I’d like to know what you were doing prior to your arrival here. And I’m not talking about occupations or roles in society but the more immediate moments leading up to finding yourself in this world. The replies I received to my last question to the network indicates that our starters are somehow significant and perhaps more information can be gathered about our current situation from the circumstances we were in before being brought here.

[Again – he’s investigating.]

Oh, and I almost forgot. If anyone in or near Goldenrod comes across a Manectric that answers to Tricia, she belongs to me. While she has been excited about the rain I did not imagine she would be resourceful enough to find a way to escape my hotel room in order to be out in it. But that only goes to show that you should always double-check your windows if you prefer to keep your pokémon outside of their pokéballs.

[YEAH, his Manectric somehow got out through a window. ~~(Spoiler: Coop's Vulpix is some kind of hyper-intelligent prodigy and opened it.)~~ A good thing Coop’s floor isn’t very high up and that the Manectric has more lives than she has the right to have, considering she’s not, in fact, a cat with nine ones to spare. Feel free to find/have spotted her and tell Coop about it! (several of you can, I'm not very picky about suchthings.)]

I didn't catch anyone new, but I recently obtained a Buneary and a Vulpix.

_{[aaafter a quick search he finds said Vulpix investigating a chair some distance away, so he pans the video and zooms in on him.]}

The other is up in my room, most likely sleeping or chewing on the sheets. He displays none of the nervous behaviour I imagined rabbits would have.

[ A rabbit? In distress? ONLY ONE PERSON TO CALL. ]

Why, you should talk to Fluttershy! Ain't nopony better with bunnies than her. Your Vulpix sure is cute, though!

I got the impression she's good with animals, yes. Maybe she could convince my Manectric to stay put.

That's the pokey-mon that ran off, ain't it? I hope you find her. Custard's been the same since the storm came... I think he likes to chase the lightning bolts. He always comes back with his fleece all puffed out!

[ She laughs at the memory, before remembering that poor Coop doesn't know who Custard is. ] Custard's my mareep. He's a real pal, but he does love a rumble! Fluttershy takes care of his good friend Cream.

That's her. I don't feel too worried about her yet but it would be good to know her whereabouts.

Tricia's an Electric type as well. I suppose it makes sense for them to enjoy this kind of weather. Personally I find there's nothing like enjoying a storm indoors with a good book and a hot drink.

Back home, Big Macintosh, Apple Bloom and I would go gallopin' through the orchard during a rainstorn--only when there was no lightnin', mind, 'cause that'd be mighty dangerous. [ She looks vaguely nostalgic. ]

When I was a little filly, I liked to check the storm schedule so I knew when to go stompin' in the puddles. Now that we're hue-mun, though, we gotta wear these...rainboots, I reckon they're called?

That sounds great.

Yes, rainboots. You don't have to wear them if you'd prefer not to - it's just something humans wear in order to keep from getting muddy.

Well y'all don't got any hair, either, so I reckon it must get pretty cold wanderin' about without 'em! I don't mind a bit o' mud, [ more like 'don't notice' ] but I don't want Apple Bloom or me to catch a cold, either.

No, colds are generally unpleasant.

_{[Cooper and small talk are not the best of friends, but he's doing okay, right? There's a little bit of depth to his words though. Thankfully, he hasn't been sick for a while, be it cold or more serious things if you don't count being shot, but he used to have some problems with it when he was a kid.]}

Hey Coop, do you reckon hue-muns get sick more often than ponies do?

It wouldn't surprise me. Back home I believe animals were sick quite seldom by comparison.

Then y'all gotta be careful; which means I gotta be careful, too.

[ Looking a bit exasperated by this, but what can you do. Getting dirty is one thing, getting sick is another. If it was just herself, AJ might not care as much, but she has to look out for Apple Bloom, too. She wouldn't forgive herself if her sister came down with some crazy human disease neither of them was familiar with. ]

I wouldn't be too worried about that as long as you dress warm. How are you adapting to being human?

_{[There must be a lot of strange differences still, he figures, but she seems to manage better now - understandably.]}

Sure have! [ At least, she likes to think so. ] I've been workin' at the mart, savin' up some money. No one even notices anything different anymore.

[ ...a pause, uncertain. ]

Hey, Coop. D'you reckon that's a good thing?

As long as you don't forget who you are or your home, I don't think it's a bad thing.

_{[Lightly emphasising the last word, the look he gives her is reassuring and the smile gentle.]}

[ She shakes her head, as if clearing out the bad thoughts. ] Oh, what in tarnation am I saying?! Of course you're right, Coop--it's what's on the inside that counts, and inside, I'll always be an Earth pony!

_{[Smile of approval! That's right, Applejack, life is a-okay. At least mostly. Maybe.]}

'Course I am! She's the most important thing to me, at home or anywhere. Even if she can be a bit tough to handle, sometimes. [ A little giggle. ] Runs in the family.

I imagine quite a lot of children are a bit of a handful. _{[Not to
mention teens. The amount of linefacing he's done at teens lately...]} But I suppose they come in all kinds.

Oh, Apple Bloom's a good filly! Her heart's in the right place. She's real focused on gettin' her cutie mark, though.

Well, few things are more important than knowing yourself, so I can understand that.
