019 - audio
I imagine quite a number of you are taking the gym challenge, but I'm curious as to what reason. Boredom? Some kind of obligation? That it just might lead to a way home?
I'm not sure. Either way I recently earned my second badge and expect to head back to Goldenrod in the near future. [A small pause here and his voice takes on a wistful little note.] Am quite excited to return to Ilex Forest. I believe it will be a beautiful sight and an invigorating hike.
[Click! Both badges are obviously mod-approved. And action for anyone in Azalea - if you find him, he's hanging from a tree by his knees, kid-style, browsing his pokégear while doing so and ... looking quite comfortable. Any gear-replies will be done in this fashion, too. Have fun with that!]
It's a fourth of your expected lifespan.
[See, he's like, totally turning the tables. Are you feeling old yet Heather?]
Yeah, well, three fourths is still a LOT bigger than one fourth.
[A LITTLE. But like hell she'll admit it!]
Re: [Video]
Like I just said, Heather. Perspective.
I like to think I've got a pretty good perspective, overall.
I've been told I'm wise beyond my years. ... Of course, I've also been called a fool, so, y'know. Maybe they're connected.
The Tibethan buddhists believe that everything is connected - every object, being or concept, to what is around it and what caused it. If being wise and a fool are both traits of yours, they're connected by default.
[He lays it out simply, but is obviously into what he's saying. Ah, Tibet.]
Of course, if these traits developed during the same or similar experiences, the connection would be even stronger.
[DID THEY COME FROM SILENT HILL. actually he sort of assumes they did. at least the first one.]
[Pretty much every trait Heather had period could be traced back to Silent Hill one way or another... it was her roots, after all.]
Do they recommend hanging upside-down, too?
[The hanging upside-down thing was just to kickstart the day. But he does meditate frequently.]
I bet I could.
I was champion of the monkey bars when I was little. One time I hung upside-down for an hour.
[Video] fff that reminds me of how I used to play 'SPIES' all the time when I was little XD
... Pfft, really?
[She's now trying to picture Cooper snooping around as a little kid. It's surprisingly easy.]
I dunno, I can think of a LOT of sneaking scenarios where hanging upside-down could be handy.
[Video] xD it really is the BEST THING ever, okay
[THIS IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR A STORY.]
[Video] SERIOUSLY
Big mystery?
[He pauses briefly to change position somewhat, what with branches quickly getting uncomfortable, but then continues with a halfway smile. He's clearly amused at his past self.]
In my school, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, every girl in the eighth grade had Health Class in room eleven. Now what went on in there was a sworn secret that none of the girls would talk about. I decided to crack the case by climbing the air vents and record the class with my tape recorder. I had a friend who thought it was a great idea.
[Smile sort of crooked at this point, he goes on with an air of 'you can probably guess what's coming'.] As destiny had it, it was a sex education class. When I got back from that little adventure and climbed out in the janitor's office I tried to convince him I'd been studying the air flow in there. He didn't believe me, of course, so in the end I just turned and ran. Not a great back-up plan.
I was called into the headmaster's office the next day, was forced to write a 500-word-essay on personal privacy, the tape was erased and my recorder was banned from school grounds for the rest of the year.
[...YEP.]
[Video] OH GOD COOPER SGJSDFG
[Between the morning routine and THIS, consider her impression of Cooper turned upside-down. No pun intended.]
Seriously?
[Imagining itty-bitty barely-a-teenager Cooper pulling shenanigans like that was so ridiculous in contrast to her impression of him as a police officer it was hilarious.]
[She's totally laughing.]
[Video] AND I'M NOT EVEN MAKING IT UP.
[It is a funny story and he's going to offer it as such, but he still looks almost surprised at her laughing - he doesn't normally get people to laugh - but in the end, that's not at all a bad reaction, and he can only grin with her.]
[Video] SO BEAUTIFUL
That is KINDA amazing, I will not lie.
I was sure it would go on some kind of record. Actually mentioned it in a letter to J. Edgar Hoover, but he wrote me back congratulating me on my "esprit de corps". Now that was amazing.
[COOPER YOU ARE JUST FULL OF SURPRISES.]
I wrote to him expressing my wish to become an Agent and some worry that my behaviour would be considered inappropriate, making me unable to apply. Keep in mind I was thirteen at the time. That was the biggest thing I had to worry about right then.
Wow.
That is EPIC.
[And hang on - hopping down from the branch, straightening up and stretching for a moment, looking just about perfectly content with life and everything in it.]
Anyway, time for that coffee, don't you think?
