Am starting to feel overcome by a familiar, dark, oppressive feeling. Fairly certain it is the onset of a depression, but at this time I am reluctant to label it as such. For the most part I feel haunted by a perpetual hopelessness. Feeling emotionally numb. Am not sure what to do.

Diane, I never thought I would say this without hesitation, but at this point in time I would like to go home. While my life there is significantly grayer and I would greatly miss my both pokémon and some of the people I have met in this world, I can't help but feel like I would have a lot less to lose. It is a much rarer event back home for people to disappear without warning.

Believe the last thing I said to Applejack was "talk to you later."

Diane ... I am finding it increasingly difficult to find some kind of peace in Johto. Ecruteak is doing little to distract me from these thoughts. Think I will try to find France.

Not at all... the source isn't always the same, and it's hard to pinpoint.

When I was younger I worked at a county hospital to assist in a study on average people who had gone mad. I always did get the feeling that no one knew what they were dealing with.

Not during my time there - it was very brief, only part of my studies. But it was a very interesting experience.

That's quite the task... but being able to understand it would help.

Almost everything is interesting. Exceptions include any kind of paperwork and dentist appointments.

I've yet to reach the stage of excessive paperwork, but I'd have to agree.

Consider yourself lucky. It's nothing short of torture.

There aren't many educational career choices that would be able to avoid it, I'm afraid.

I've noticed. That doesn't mean I think any better of it.

Then I should work at preparing myself to handle the bad efficiently.

At the end of the day that's really all we can do.
